Permaculture as a path to peace (3Peas) is 20 month long project supported by Erasmus+ program of the European Commission. 3Peas includes 15 partner organizations from Europe, from 14 countries (VCV Serbia, VUK Croatia, Nešto više Bosnia & Herzegovina, SCI Italy, SCI France, SCI Germany, SCI Greece, CVS Bulgaria, CID Macedonia, Bugday Turkey, ZMAG Croatia, Utilapu Hungary, PVN Albania, SCI Catalunya, GAIA Kosovo).
The main topic of the project is permaculture as a tool for peace building, reconciliation and empowerment of youth. It will consist of several connected activities which aim is to build capacity of SAVA working group of SCI (responsible for exchange in the Balkans) in youth work within current challenging social and environmental concepts. Through this project, participants will gain diverse knowledge and skills to implement permaculture in peace work, but will also upgrade existing climate for peace toolkit, which will be tested through summer workcamps, youth mobility activities and finalized and concluded together with the video documentary.
EVS volunteer from France will be involved in development of permaculture site in Bozevce, remote village in Eastern part of Kosovo from November 2017 until September 2018,
Volunteer will take part in local permaculture initiative in Novo Brdo Municipality, run by GAIA and local partners. The volunteer will be experimenting knowledge and skills, observing, designing and documenting the natural process.
SAVA permaculture pool of trainers workshop will take place in Eastern part of Kosovo, from 16th till 20th of March 2018 and will gather 12 representatives. During this meeting, participants will develop new tools and methods for permaculture education and actions in diverse local contexts, but within SCI strategic frame. Main guidelines will cover introduction to permaculture, one day workshops, one day actions (permablitz), study parts on workcamps and practical tools for organizations. This toolkit will be focused on topics related to post conflict areas, ethnically divided communities, social inclusion and refugee crisis. This manual will be explored and implemented during YE in Mitrovica and at least 14 summer workcamps during summer, in rural areas, divided communities and along the ‘Balkan route’ in refugee camps.
Youth Exchange in Mitrovica, divided city in Kosovo will take place from 18th untill 26th of May 2018 and will gather 25 participants from 5 countries (Kosovo, Serbia, Macedonia, Croatia, Bulgaria). The call for participants will be pubished in the beginning of 2018.
Permaculture4peace summer workcamp campaign (June – September 2018) in cooperation with Climate for peace team. At least 14 workcamps (Western Balkans, EU) will implement study and/or practical part (workshops, permablitz, study visits etc) on permaculture based on guidelines from the manual.
Final evaluation & follow up meeting will take place from 2nd till 5th of October 2018, Bozevce vilalge in Kosovo. This meeting will gather 15 representatives from all partners and will also include experiences of EVS and other long-term volunteers. During the meeting, participants will do the situation assessment and analyse data from evaluation of previous activities.
